Akant Architects
Akant Architectural Studio is one of Moscow's first private architectural bureaus, founded in 1987. The main architects of the studio are Fedor Arzamanov, Anton Atlas and Oleg Zarechensky, all graduates of the Moscow Architectural Institute and repeated winners of Russian and international competitions. Over 250 projects have been implemented by the company during its work: residential neighbourhoods, public areas, country cottages, and interiors of houses and flats.
A lot depends on habitation: mood, well-being, working capacity, relations in the family, and health, eventually. The task of architects is to create a harmonious space necessary for a person to live, to give them a sense of security, a piece of paradise where they will be happy. Design speaks first of all about the house owner, and only secondarily about the skill of the decorator.
Therefore, the architect in his work derives from a particular customer, his character, mindset, aspirations and predilections. As for materials, furniture, and accessories, the things themselves contain the possibilities of their design, and these possibilities are infinitely varied. Whether a building is built from scratch, a complex redesign of a room is made, or the interior is organised - a house is created not for a beautiful picture but for a pleasant and joyful family life.
The bureau chose the acanthus leaf as its emblem. The intricate and delicate acanthus outline first appeared on Corinthian columns. The motif was used in Roman and Byzantine architecture, almost disappeared in the Middle Ages, returned in the Renaissance and found a second breath in classicism - the image absorbed the entire history of European culture. Acanthus is a symbol of life, a sign of triumph and overcoming trials, and in the language of flowers a bouquet of acanthus says: ‘You are talented and you will achieve everything you wish, so dare!’.
Akant Studio possesses the necessary licences for architectural, design and engineering project works. It carries out its activities in Russia and abroad successfully cooperating with multiple foreign companies and decorators. A broad outlook, using the latest achievements in construction technologies and design, allows architects to freely realise their ideas in the spatial environment.
